Can I use photos from different sources, such as different camera models, to process a single project in Preimage?

Currently, our software supports the use of only one camera model per project. However, we are working on enabling support for photos from multiple camera models.

Do I need to have all photos geotagged, or can I use a few geotagged photos for processing?

All photos uploaded to Preimage must have embedded EXIF information. We are working on adding support for projects that contain only a portion of photos which are geotagged.

What is the recommended amount of overlap between photos for better accuracy?

To achieve greater accuracy, it is advised to capture multiple images of the same scene with frontal and side overlaps. For optimal results, a minimum overlap of 60% on both sides is recommended.

What is the maximum number of images that Preimage can process in a single project?

Currently, the maximum number of images that can be processed in a single project using Preimage is 5,000. However, we are working on increasing this limit.

Can I process interior environments using Preimage?

No, as of now, Preimage is optimized for processing drone images of exterior scenes, especially for large areas such as surveying and inspection sites.

What is the maximum image resolution supported for processing?

Preimage performs best with photos captured with a resolution of up to 60 megapixels (MP).

Are videos or 360 degree cameras supported on Preimage?

Unfortunately, we currently do not support processing of videos or photos from a 360 degree camera.

Can I process point clouds instead of images?

Yes, Preimage supports point clouds in addition to images as input. The point cloud must be in LAS, LAZ or PLY format and must include RGB information.

Users can segment their point cloud input into various classes and generate DSM and DTM. Preimage supports eight classes for point cloud classification which include: ground, vegetation, buildings, water, paved area, bridges, vehicles, and structures. Additionally, Preimage also supports a ground versus non-ground segmentation of point clouds which provides further refinements on the aforementioned classes.

What are the available file formats for exporting outputs?

Users can export 3D models in .obj, point clouds in .LAS, and rasters in GeoTIFF formats. If you need to export project outputs in any other format, we would love to hear from you. Write to us here.

What is the expected global accuracy and ground sample distance (GSD)?

By using RTK/PPK drones along with Ground Control Points (GCP), you can achieve a horizontal accuracy of less than 10 cm and vertical accuracy of less than 15 cm. We are continuously working towards getting down our global accuracy to a range of 5-10 cm.

Currently, Preimage generates rasters with a maximum resolution of 4 cm/px. However, the actual GSD achieved depends on various factors such as the drone flight altitude and the resolution of the input imagery.

What are the different classes supported for point cloud segmentation?

Preimage supports eight classes for point cloud classification which include: ground, vegetation, buildings, water, paved area, bridges, vehicles, and structures. Additionally, Preimage also supports a ground versus non-ground segmentation of point clouds which provides further refinements on the aforementioned classes.

How can I add users to my workspace?

To add users to your workspace in Preimage

1.

Navigate to the workspace settings on the left sidebar in the web app.

2.

Select the "Add user" tab.

3.

Enter the email address of the user you want to add to your workspace and select their level of access.

4.

Click "Invite".

An invitation email will be sent to the user to join the workspace.

What do the different permission levels mean when adding users to your workspace?

You can manage the level of access for each team member using different permission levels like

Readers

can view and download the outputs of the projects in the workspace.

Editors

can create projects, in addition to viewing and downloading the outputs.

Admins

have all the permissions of editors, along with the ability to manage workspace settings and make payments.

Owners

have complete control over the workspace and its contents. They can even delete the workspace, and add or remove other owners.

Can I share my project with users outside of my workspace?

Currently, it is not possible to share a single project with specific users outside of your Preimage workspace. However, you can share your project externally by creating a shareable link. Anyone with access to the link will be able to view the project outputs.

Does the Preimage viewer support annotations and measurements on output files?

Yes, Preimage viewer supports annotation and measurements on rasters such as DEM, DTM, and orthomosaic. We are also working on adding support for 3D annotations and measurements in the near future.

Can I edit outputs directly in the Preimage viewer?

At present, the Preimage viewer does not offer editing capabilities. To edit your files, you can export them from Preimage and import them into alternative editing tools. We are actively working on incorporating editing functionality within the viewer and would appreciate any suggestions for features you would like be added.

How do I purchase credits to process more projects?

To purchase credits and process more projects in Preimage, navigate to the payments section located in the left sidebar of the web application, select/enter the number of credits required and click “Buy now” to proceed.

If you need help estimating the number of credits required to process your project, you can use the pricing calculator on our pricing page of the website.

For large-scale mapping projects, we can offer tailored pricing to meet your specific needs. Please reach out to us to discuss.

How can I check the number of credits used in a project?

To view the credit utilization, you can access the usage statistics screen located in the left sidebar of the web application. You can also see the estimated credit utilization before processing a project.

Is there a set validity period for Preimage credits?

There is no expiration date for your credits; you can utilize them for upcoming projects without any time constraints.
